ChiliSpot is a no-frills spot for those seeking authentic Sichuan and broader Chinese flavors in University City, MO. The restaurant primarily serves as a full-service dining establishment with a busy, bustling atmosphere that reflects its popularity among local fans of genuine Asian fusion cuisine. Expect a concentrated dining space that can feel lively and sometimes a bit tight, especially when it’s busy, but this adds to its energetic, neighborhood vibe.

The menu is a playground of bold flavors, with standout dishes like the Chongqing Spicy Popcorn Chicken and the spicy beef sirloin noodle soup drawing frequent praise from visitors. The Sichuan-style dishes bring real heat and complexity—offering a good balance for those who appreciate spice but also want variety. Items like the dry fried string beans and mapo tofu provide a good counterpoint to the more intensely flavored options, making this a place well-suited for sharing family-style meals or group outings.

ChiliSpot tends to attract diners who are familiar with authentic Chinese cuisine or are eager to explore genuine regional flavors beyond typical American-Chinese takeout. Groups and families appreciate the ability to call ahead and be seated promptly, even when the restaurant is buzzing, which speaks to an efficient, no-nonsense service approach. Locals looking for a hearty, well-seasoned meal with sizable portions will find the pricing reasonable, and parking is generally accessible nearby.

If you're planning a visit, weekday evenings or earlier dinner times might offer a slightly more relaxed experience, as the place can fill up quickly on weekends. The service moves swiftly to keep up with demand, though some visitors note the focus is more on efficiency than dining leisure. Overall, ChiliSpot works well for those hungry for authentic Sichuan dishes delivered with solid freshness and a straightforward dining setting.

This was the best Chinese food Ive ever eaten at a restaurant. To be real, I haven't had many places I liked at all. Its authentic! Everything was so good! The best popcorn chicken and the spicy sliced pork in garlic sauce were the best, Dan Dan noodles and pork egg rolls were also good but nothing could touch those first two! I cant wait to get back to STL for another bite.

Came here with a group of 9. We did call ahead but got sat right away even though it was decently busy. We shared a lot of dishes family style and all left feeling full and everything was great. Everyone really enjoyed the green beans a lot! As a person who doesn’t like super spicy food, still try everything! I love chili oil and found the spice level to be good on most of the items that were labeled as spicy. Would go again for sure, great food.

My wife is Chinese, and through her I was able to get away from typical takeout and discover REAL Chinese food. This was in England, and we have our favorite restaurants for each region. I’m visiting St Louis for work and wanted to find a legit spot, and found it here! VERY good food, freshly made. Highly recommend!

The Chinese food was definitely authentic and exceptional. You can usually tell how good a Chinese place is based on the number of Chinese customers, and this place did not disappoint! The service was super quick and the waiters were really attentive despite a full house. Only drawback is the atmosphere, which can feel a bit crowded, but it’s a vibe :)

The food is quite tasty, and there are so many options to choose from on the menu. Our server was very fast, but unfortunately didn’t seem to have much of a service mindset. The prices are reasonable for the large portions, and there is plenty of parking available.

decent place. The popcorn chicken was spicy even after we asked for milder spice levels. Prob wouldve been good to have more water there to put out the fire. Atmosphere was good, but place was a bit cold inside. Overall decent experience just didn't wow us. The frog soup was disappointing.

Great small place where everything is cooked fresh. I had the cumin lamb and spicy wonton. Both were fantastic. I was visiting from out of town and will come back just for this food! It was my favorite meal in a long time!
